CHAUKI SECTION with background (1).jpg

As you walk up the market street, you come across a large Chowkinuma house  situated higher up on the hillside. As you move past it, you locate a ridge, along which a narrow path leads you back to the wheat fields downhill. Down this path is where we find the houses of Guptaji and the local Pandit as well as the Baramda house, owned by Tarachand and his brother.

Further, on the main path from the ridge, you eventually reach the older main gate of the fort that opens up to the Kingsway which leads back to the fort complex. Next to the gate is the Khavda. This is where the local wheat harvest gets thrashed for grains. Along the way, towards the gate is where we find the houses of the local Oil maker’s family, namely the Teli house.

this is Guptaji’s house. It has a plain facade with no modifications done to its structure. The Baramdah type is very strongly shown here with a longitudinal arrangement and the wooden cladded balcony on the first floor.
